Our First Lady

Mrs. Evelyn Kay

Mrs. Evelyn Kay, a well-rounded and multi-dimensional wife, mother, blogger, and educator. After earning her undergraduate degree from Virginia Wesleyan College in Norfolk, she moved to Winston-Salem, North Carolina and earned a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Mrs. Kay is excited to begin the 2011-2012 school year as a second grade teacher.

Rev. and Mrs. Kay are the proud parents of four beautiful children, which they fondly call, “the Special Kays” or the “Kay Cubs.” As the mother of four very active youngsters, she has made an art form of juggling the demands of the teaching profession, spending quality time with her family, fellowshipping with her church family, and running a smooth household.

Mrs. Kay has been involved in the church as long as she can remember. She is a longtime member of Galilee United Methodist Church in Edwardsville, Virginia. Here at First Baptist, she actively participates in the “Women’s Ministry” , the “Holiday Sharing Project” and is a “Greeter” for the Saturday church school. She is a kind, supportive, fiercely intelligent, righteous woman whose quiet manner belies a certain confidence and ease that come with the certainty that she is doing the Lord’s will.
